The gastronomy of Pantelleria is made up of simple tastes, based mostly on agriculture and land products. Actually only few people are fishermen and the products are linked to land fertility and to the work of peasants. But the gastronomy of Pantelleria is not simply agriculture. It is enriched by historical and cultural elements, like the cultural heritage of those populations that inhabited the island in the previous centuries: Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans and Arabs.
